TITLE:  SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER

JOB REQUIREMENTS/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities


SKILLS are required to perform multiple tasks with a need to periodically upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include:
1. Adhering to safety practices
2. Administering first aid
3. Operating equipment used in the performance of job
4. Using pertinent software applications
5. Preparing and maintaining accurate records, drug interdiction and restraining protocol.

KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math; understand written procedures, write routine documents, speak clearly; and solve practical problems. Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include:
1. Accounting/bookkeeping principles
2. Business telephone etiquette
3. Safety practices and procedures outlined by the laws of Mississippi pertaining to police powers.


ABILITY is required to schedule activities and/or meetings; gather and/or collate data; and use basic, job-related equipment.
Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined but different processes and utilize equipment under a variety of conditions for multiple purposes. Ability is also required to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with data of widely varied types and/or purposes; and utilize a variety of job-related equipment.


Problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires independent Interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited to moderate.
Specific ability-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include:
1. Communicating with diverse groups maintaining confidentiality
2. Setting priorities
3. Working as part of a team
4. Working with frequent interruptions
5. Gaining student and parent contacts
